Dr Shamaileh completed his PhD at Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria. He has extensive experience in genomics service provision with duties that include library preparation, next generation sequencing, and implementing new genomics technologies into service.

Dr Ali Sadiq Cheema

Dr Ali Cheema is a clinician Scientist with a
PhD n molecular sciences from the University of Western Australia. Dr  Cheema  has extensive experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques 

Dr Cheema is responsible for supporting Genomics WA's services by performing a range of laboratory procedures and workflows for processing samples. 

Ms Reenu Joy

Dr Ulrich Kadolsky

Dr Kadolsky joined the Genomics WA team in June 2021 from London, where he had previously worked in a genomics sequencing facility as a Senior Bioinformatician, having obtained his PhD in 2010 from Imperial College, London. He has over five years of experience in processing and analysing next generation sequencing data from a range of library types: bulk and single-cell RNA-Seq libraries, Whole Exome Sequencing, variant calling, ATAC-Seq, Methylation data, and long-read data.

Dr Clémentine Mercé

Dr Mercé is a Bioinformatician specialised in Next Generation Sequencing data analysis and has experience in multiple applied fields, including crop genome analysis and cancer research. During her PhD at the University of Western Australia she studied the impact of breeding on DNA methylation patterns in canola.

Mr Jefferson Allan

Mrs Emma Tulloch

Emma completed a Bachelor of Science (Molecular Biology and Biomedical Science) and Bachelor of Forensics at Murdoch University and has completed additional studies in Occupational Health and Safety. Prior to joining Genomics WA as the Quality Assurance Officer, Emma worked in a NATA accredited genomics research laboratory for over eight years and has worked in the mining, medical and university industries in the areas of quality and safety compliance. Emma has experience working with Next Generation Sequencing technologies and other molecular laboratory techniques, and in quality management system development and risk assessment.

Dr Paul Egan 

Dr Egan has been working at Genomics WA since December 2022. He previously worked at a genomics laboratory at Murdoch University where he was responsible for managing lab’s quality assurance activities. He has over 10 years’ experience in managing the laboratory’s NATA accreditation to the ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189 standards and accreditation by the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. He has a background as a research scientist, specialising in Immunology.

Professor Forrest’s research focuses on using cutting-edge genomic techniques, in particular next generation DNA sequencing and computational approaches (bioinformatics) to understand how cells work at a system level. 

He has extensive experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and has published using a variety of platforms (Roche, SOLiD, Illumina and Helicos) and protocols (RNA-seq, CAGE, small RNA, ChIP-seq). Professor Forrest is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences.

Donna is responsible for a wide range of operational and management functions . Donna manages contractual arrangements and has a significant role in risk management as well as setting and delivering organisational strategy together with the Executive team.

With significant executive experience across health, education and the community sector, Donna has strong commercial acumen and operations expertise in healthcare and nursing. Over the last 15 years she has directed corporate services, community engagement and employee services for large healthcare, education and community-led organisations.

Professor Charlene Kahler is a distinguished researcher in infectious diseases, concentrating on respiratory pathogens. She has recently established the $1.2 million Clinical Microbiology Research Facility at the University of Western Australia which will focus on developing the capability of long-read sequencing protocols for applications in microbiology.

Professor Ryan Lister's research uses genomic technologies to investigate the epigenome, the molecular code superimposed upon the genome that can regulate the readout of the underlying genetic information. 

His laboratory uses a wide range of sequencing technologies and assays to explore the composition and function of the epigenome in diverse systems, including plants, animals, human stem cells, embryo development, and the brain. 

Professor Lister is an elected fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences in recognition for his outstanding work over many years in the field of epigenomics.

Telethon Kids Institute

David is an NHMRC biomedical research fellow and Team Leader of Clinical Epigenetics at Telethon Kids Institute. His research explores the links between the molecular determinants of epigenetic control and childhood health and disease.

He is engaged in understanding how periconceptual exposures translate into phenotypes with enduring effects on long-term health. 

He has published extensively on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of immune development and allergic disease.  

Mr. Peter Boyne 

Peter was appointed as the Independent Chair of the Board of Genomics WA in September 2021.

He has over 45 years of experience in clinical pathology laboratories including 30 years as a Clinical Biochemist in public and private laboratories in Western Australia and Victoria.

Prior to retiring in 2017, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Western Diagnostic Pathology in Perth and was responsible for the business activity in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Peter brings to the Board a mixture of extensive clinical laboratory experience along with operational and management expertise.
